Sometimes A Girl's Gotta Dance

One of Kate's favorite thing to watch is old dance videos from our college days. Lately this has been a favorite - featuring Julie, my roommate from college.

Thankful for Food & Fun

Sophie - opening wide for the delights of a dinner of Thanskgiving leftovers.
Ok, so really she's just prepping for some Reddi-Whip.
Kate never likes to be left out of any fun.
Delighted to be with her Daddy. And (maybe more?) delighted that she has been deemed ready for dessert even though she didn't quite finish her plate.

Autumn

It is fall in Belmont, NC. This means lots of jumping in the leaves - all the while looking cute & fashionable & feminine. This is a challenging task, but the Bomgaars girls are up to the task.
When company is on the way, Kate goes off with Opa to serve as a beacon.
Sophie prefers the warmth of a lap & a good book to the blustery day outside.

Rides & Diversions

Sophie, Kate, & Micah have a little chat with Mother Goose. Kate & Micah ride a giant rocking horse.
Carolyn & Kate ride an elephant.
Bells that were made in Holland. While we were listening to them, Kate got stung twice by a bee on her hand.
Riding "Leonardo da Vinci's Flying Machine."

Fighting over a Turkey Leg at the Renaissance Festival

Micah bought a turkey leg while we were at the Renaissance festival this weekend. As you can see, Sophie was very interested. The funny thing is, she was not at all interested in the sticky bun we had just eaten. She must be a carnivore.
Here's Micah getting a few bites.

And, Kate dives in. We quickly discovered one of these could feed a family of four. It was huge!

Baking Cookies

Kate, in her cute apron, is a huge help in the kitchen.

A Train Hunt

One of my favorite things to do is go on a train hunt with my good buddy Owen.
It's important to approach the tracks with a single-mindedness that is hard to come by when you're only 2 1/2 years old. And, then, you wait. Some days no train comes, but that just makes a good excuse to come back the next day.

After a long hard train hunt, Mommy often gives me a snack. Today, it was 3 apple slices. This is what my plate looked like when I was all done.

Joyriding

Kate & Sophie go for a drive. Note that Kate drives barefooted, just like her mother.

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

Sophie's normal cue that she is ready for a nap. (Sophie - 11 mos)Kate always loved to lay on this blanket, too. (Kate - 13 mos)
Kate trick-or-treating & loading up on candy.
Sophie wishing she was too.The girls on their stools. Kate was standing on her stool cracking pepper onto her popcorn ball.
Enjoying some Earl Grey.
