How Kate Dines on a Dime & What She Does to Relax

Aside from normal birthday fun, Mommy's birthday is also always surrounded by many eat outs. "Decadent?" you say. Why no, of course not, we are Dutch! Mommy gets so many coupons for eating out in her email, we don't quite know what to do with them all. Except for Sophie, she really gets it.
Daddy & I enjoy a little pre-dinner chat. We are, by the way, at Rock Bottom Brewery. This is one of Daddy's favorite restaurants in all of Charlotte because of one dish: hazlenut crusted chicken with a cherry sauce. I had some. It was good.
Look who got to scrape the last bits of caramel & carrot cake off the dessert plate. No wonder I have such a big smile on my face.
Nothing is better, after a hectic day, than propping one's feet up & sipping a hot brew.

Ahhh...peach tea.

DQ Something Different

Kate: The Musical

Television Producer in Training

His Needs, Her Needs

Daddy & Mommy have a book on the shelf called "His Needs, Her Needs." I think this is what it must refer to...
Daddy really likes to go to Home Depot. Here we are settling for Lowes, because that is what is in Belmont.
Mommy really likes dessert. She also really likes good deals. Here we are enjoying a buy one, get one free blizzard.
Speaking of which...a little story to end the blog on. I have to go take care of my baby, so I'll leave it to Mommy to tell... Yesterday, when we were coming home from church, Kate said, "When we get home we need to look in the mail box. Maybe there will be some good deals in there." After I got the paper & we got inside, I pulled the paper out. Kate pulled out the comics and said, "This a good deal, Mommy?" I pointed her to the store flyers, so she took one to Micah & said, "This is a good deal, Daddy."

Birthday Weekend & a Visit from the Grandparents

This weekend was Mommy's birthday. Daddy ordered this beautiful cake from Baskin Robbins. He specially requested tulips because that's Mommy's favorite flower. Guess who is excited about a little ice cream cake???It was so exciting because Opa & Grandma came for the weekend. Opa had off for Presidents Day, so it was a long weekend. We went out to eat at IHOP. (Aunt Christine - insert your favorite IHOP joke in here.) Kate ate about four bites of food. Sophie ate continuously from Opa & Mommy's plates.
We sisters sure love each other (and Daddy, too). Here Sophie gives Kate a big hug.

Here Kate returns the favor.

Is this February or is this Spring??

Yesterday we went for a delightful walk & picnic at the botanical gardens.
Today, Kate helped to frost & decorate some Valentine's cookies. We're having company tonight, and I had to quarantine some cookies so they wouldn't have Kate's toe prints in them. Oh - she was also sticking fingers in them, licking off the frosting, and putting her fingers back in them. She must get that from her dad. It looks like she is sneaking a cookie in this picture, she is actually just putting on a finishing touch. (No, not some saliva.)
Enjoying the fruits of her labors. And sharing with her little sister.

Warm Weather & Sisterly Shenanigans

The other morning I awoke to calls of, "MOMMY!" giggle, giggle "MOMMY!!!" This is what I came in to find - Kate in Sophie's crib. She was very proud of her accomplishment. Finally - this weekend was in the 70s after such a long cold spell. Just Thursday was in the teens when we woke up.
Spring is in the air.
Sometimes one has to just sit down & ponder all the possibilites of what can be done.

After a busy afternoon of playing, Kate throws her purse over her shoulder & heads indoors.

A post in the hopes that the hate mail stops...

Alright, alright. So it's been a while since we've posted to the blog. But, honestly, we've all been under the weather & who wants to see snotty noses? So, here are some of the best of our just everyday pictures...
Ah, my favorite time of day. Just refreshed from a nice nap & Mommy is kind enough to give us a tasty snack to enjoy. Note: Sophie's black eye is NOT my fault.
Well, I did just mention that we had just woken up. Sometimes we are a little clumsy with our snack.
Mommy is SO embarassing.
So VERY VERY embarassing.
Sophie is the funniest sister I have. Here she is - spinning tales of amusement.
