Wedding Weekend!

My mom & dad came to town this weekend to celebrate my cousin Joe's wedding (to his beautiful bride, Annie). Here we are with the mother-of-the-groom (& my mom's sister).Kate & John missed out on that photo op, so here they are. When the dancing got started, my two were out shaking it. Kate had been talking about dancing at the wedding the whole week leading up to the wedding.
Kate & Sophie got invited up on stage (along with cousin Kees) for the cake cutting. After they got their cake, I asked Kate if she wanted to come sit by us to eat it. "No, Mommy, I want to eat all by myself." When I turned to find Sophie, she had disappeared. Then I saw her. She had plopped down at a table with strangers to enjoy her cake.Since Dad & Mom were here for the wedding already, we decided to have John baptized on Sunday morning so they could be here for that. Here we all are at the front of church. I had to hold Sophie because she was more interested in heading toward the pulpit.

Beach Trip -- Gulf Shores, AL

We all went for an (almost) week to Gulf Shores, AL with Daddy's family. What a good looking group!!!
Kate tires quickly of the posed pictures & decides to bring in some pizazz! Now this is what the beach is about...playing in the sand & waves!

The Girls on the Beach Trip

Playing on the beach was tons of fun - as you can see from Kate's face.
The water was lots of fun, too. Just very cold.
Sophie runs down to give the water a try. Our house was the yellow/orange one in the background. The water is too cold for Sophie...but the sand is marvelous. You should have seen the bathtub after these girls got out of it!!

Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama

Some good friends of ours recently moved to Bahama, North Carolina. We decided to take a day trip to go visit them. Here Kate & Owen share a snack - al fresco because that's how they roll.
It's a bird; it's a plane. It's Kate the butterfly. There are some scary bugs around here. Kate keeps her distance, because ants terrify her.Riding the train - Jenn, Owen, & Elliott.Sophie & Kate. I think Sophie is "choo-choo"-ing.

Kate's Birthday Party

How many kids can fit on the swing at once? Well, at one time, there was one more - so 6!Here is Isaac. He's the one who missed the swing picture.Planting flowers.Sophie & her marigold wait patiently.

Grandma's Visit

Grandma came to visit for Kate's 4th birthday. Here is the birthday girl opening her present from Uncle Neil & Aunt Rebecca. When Grandma comes, we get to do crazy things like eat frozen yogurt for lunch. Mommy says it is very good for you. Daddy says Mommy is only kidding herself. Our latest garage sale purchase: a swingset!!I didn't get birthday presents. I didn't get frozen yogurt. I can't play on the swingset. Good thing I'm cute, or I'd never even make the blog.

Easter Weekend

Happy Easter from the Bomgaars family! On the way to our church Easter egg hunt, Daddy had to take an artistic shot or two. I found one!! Kate spent the first part of the day doing crafts, so that is why she looks like an Indian going off to war.Looking at the spoils.I think she has more than I do! Too much candy can make even the most calm child - wild. Here you see...the many faces of Kate.

John in his Easter outfit. No candy for him this year.

Some "Words" From John

Mommy says I should be modest. But, I gotta be honest, too. This is probably going to be the cutest thing you'll see all day. (And maybe all week.)

Sit a Spell

The current exhibit at the gardens is all about places to sit. Here is a sod sofa.
Billy Graham rocking chair.
Rebar swing.
Painted adirondack chairs.

Botanical Gardens

Nothing makes us smile like an outing to the local botanical gardens.
Our FAVORITE part: the fountains you can run through.
Although there aren't a whole lot of flowers blooming, there are a few tulips. Since we are Dutch, we are extra-excited to see them!
The papparazzi become too much for John & Sophie.

The Faces of John

My sister Kate is a very smart girl. Here you can see I am paying great attention to what she is teaching me.Sophie always makes me laugh. She is a jokester.
Thinking of my sweet daddy. He is the best!

A Blog with John

I may not be very old, but I've figured out pretty quickly those girls can hog the blog a bit. So, here are some shots of me!!Daddy holding me! Lots of people say I look just like Daddy. Of course, others say I look like Mommy, Kate, or Sophie. I must be a good looking guy!!
My church outfit. The ladies dig a guy with a sweater vest.
Here they are stealing time on my blog post. I don't want to complain about something else, but do you see who is the only one in the shot without a lollipop?? Being a baby is tough stuff.
